As the page prints it
Four offer titles and no prices
The Special Offers column on the English page shows four cards. Each card has a German title, a thumbnail, an empty price span, and a booking link with an empty address. The titles are the whole of the offer text.
The four titles as printed
The titles are Aufenthalt 7 Tage, Aufenthalt Anreise Montag – Abreise Freitag, Anreise am Sonntag, and Kostenfreies Storno. They are German sentences on an English page. The page does not translate them in the column. A note that substituted English slogans would hide the file.
Aufenthalt 7 Tage names a length of stay and not a date. The Monday-to-Friday title names arrival and departure weekdays and not a calendar date. Anreise am Sonntag names Sunday as an arrival day and does not name the departure. Kostenfreies Storno names free cancellation and does not name a deadline, a fee that would otherwise apply, or a room type.
The English page links each title to special-offers.html with a fragment: item_21, item_11, item_1, and item_31. That file is not in the archive. The fragments are not pages a reader can open here. This note quotes the titles and does not invent the paragraphs that would have sat under the fragments.
| Title on the card | What the card also shows |
|---|---|
| Aufenthalt 7 Tage | Empty price span, empty booking link |
| Aufenthalt Anreise Montag – Abreise Freitag | Empty price span, empty booking link |
| Anreise am Sonntag | Empty price span, empty booking link |
| Kostenfreies Storno | Empty price span, empty booking link |
Empty prices
Each card has a span with the class itemPreviewPrice. The span is empty in the file that was read. There is no euro sign, no from price, and no crossed-out price. A guest who wants the cost of seven days will not find it in the column.
Empty is different from free. Kostenfreies Storno uses frei for the cancellation, not for the stay. The other three titles do not say the stay is free. They also do not say what it costs. The blank span is not a zero.
The booking mask elsewhere has a Check Rates button and still no figure. The form note stays with that button. A rate the form might return on another site is not printed here. This column cannot be filled from that button.
No currency symbol sits in the span, so the blank cannot be read as zero euros. The span's class name is not a number.
The class itemPreviewPrice names a role. The role is unfilled on every card.
Frei in the cancellation title is not a zero in the price span. The span stays blank on that card too.
Empty booking links on the cards
Under each empty price is a link with an empty href, a class that includes booking-link, and no visible word in the anchor in the markup that was read. The header button that says Check Rates is a different control. It points at a hash, not at a tariff. The cards and the header button share a class name and not a price.
The thumbnails have empty alt attributes. The file names are DSC_0029, DSC_0015, DSC_0005, and Pylon. Those names are paths, not captions. This note does not describe the photographs from the file names. A DSC number is not a room type.
The review note quotes a guest who says the price is great. That sentence does not state a number either. Great is the guest's word, cut off before any complaint is named. It does not fill the empty span.
An empty href is not the ihotelier address. That address belongs to the form, not to these four anchors.
The header Check Rates control is a third kind of button, aimed at a hash.
Weekdays without a calendar
Monday, Friday, and Sunday are the only days the titles name. No month and no year sits in the titles. The booking form's hidden fields do contain 03/19/2016 and 03/20/2016. Those values are in the form, not in the offer titles. Putting the March 2016 pair under Aufenthalt 7 Tage would join two boxes the page leaves apart. A seven-day title and a one-night hidden pair are not the same offer.
The Monday-to-Friday title uses an en dash between Anreise and Abreise. The page prints that dash. It does not say the stay is four nights. Counting Monday to Friday as a number of nights is a calculation the title does not perform. The title is the instruction about arrival and departure, not a night count.
Sunday arrival is not tied to the free-cancellation title. They are neighbouring cards. Nothing in the column says a Sunday arrival is the one that can be cancelled free. That would be a rule the page does not write.
Sunday, Monday, and Friday are names of days. They are not dates in March.
Special Offers as a menu label
Special Offers is also a main-menu label. It points at the same missing special-offers.html. The column and the menu agree on the label and disagree with the archive, which does not contain the file. The menu note lists the other labels in the same situation. This column is the one place the offer names themselves survived, on the English page, without the destination page.
The heading of the column is Special Offers, inside a span, next to Features. Four cards are all it holds. There is no fifth card and no view-all link inside the column. View All appears under the guest lines, not under the offers.
German titles on an English page are a fact about this file, like Bycicle in the features box. The page did not switch language for the cards. The language switcher still marks en as selected. The features note keeps the other English slips. The cards keep their German.
The column has no view-all control. Four cards are the entire offer text on this page.
Questions
How many offer titles are on the page?
Four: a seven-day stay, Monday arrival to Friday departure, Sunday arrival, and free cancellation. All four are in German.
What price is printed?
None. Each price span is empty. Free in the cancellation title is not a room rate.
Where do the title links go?
To special-offers.html with item fragments. That file is not in this archive, so the titles are quoted from the cards only.
